Gabion stones are hard, durable rocks of different sizes and are used in galvanised or stainless steel cages.  Once filled, they form strong, permeable structures often used for retaining walls in gardens, driveways and landscaping gardens.  These are perfect way for preventing erosion and can control riverbanks and slopes subsiding.  They can also be a decorative feature for planters and seating.

The stones are usually an angular shape rather than rounded so that they can lock together and don’t have much movement.  Common sizes are 50mm to 100mm, 75mm to 150mm and 100-200mm and can come in limestones, granite, basalt and sandstone.

Gabion stones are popular, strong and long lasting.  The water can drain freely so that there is no water pressure build-up, low maintenance, exo-friendly (as the stones are local or recylced) and offer a natural and more modern appearance.
